Use A Power Washer To Clean Your Boat

Posted on: 14 June 2016

If you have a boat you want to make sure that it is nice and clean before you get it back in the water every year. There are a lot of reasons for that, but one of the biggest reasons for that is that if your boat is clean, you can see if there are any problems with it. However, cleaning it can be a lot of work if you are trying to wash it by hand. There are other ways to do it. One is to get a power washer and use that to clean off your boat. Before you do that, you need to know how to clean your boat safely. You don't want to do any damage when you are trying to clean your boat off to see if there is any damage.

Take Off Removables

Removables include everything like seat cushions, sun canopies, and fish finders. The reason to take them off is that the powerful spray of the power washer can break them. It won't take you long to remove them, and you can wash them separately by hand if you want to.

Soak Your Boat

Soaking your boat doesn't mean that you need to put it in a body of water. Instead, it means that you are going to spray detergent on it and let it sit. Letting the detergent sit on your boat gives it a chance to make sure that it has a chance to work on all the dirt, grease, and grime that may have built up on your boat. Before you spray your boat down with detergent, make sure that it is specifically designed to be used on boats. You also may want to start spraying from the bottom up in order to help prevent any streaks. While you do want to let the detergent sit for a few minutes, you don't want it to sit long enough that it dries.

Scrub It

Once the detergent has had a few minutes to sit, it's time to scrub it off. You can put a scrub brush on the power washer so that you get the action from the water as well as the scrub brush to clean it off. Make sure to pay extra attention to any places that look like algae might be accumulating.

Rinse It Off

After soaking and scrubbing, it's time to rinse off your boat. When you do rinse it, you are going to want to use a low-pressure spray because you don't want to spray any dirt back up on your boat. Start at the deck and work your way down. That way you are rinsing the dirt down into areas that will need to be rinsed still.

If you need to wash your boat, the easiest way to do it is to use a power washer to do it.
